Summary

Hello, my name is Eric Weng, and welcome to my personal website.

I am a new computer science graduate specializing in software engineering, cybersecurity, and computer graphics. I am proficient in numerous programming tools and techniques, and my extensive hands-on project experience—both in and out of coursework—means I excel at solving complex problems quickly adopting new ones. Besides my academic career, I have served as a tutor and sung in choir, sharpening my communication and collaboration skills in the process.

I am looking to work full-time as a software or full-stack developer in the New York Metro Area. My greatest strength is my intellectual curiosity; not content to simply accept common technologies the way they are, I set out to better understand their inner workings. Through my game engine project, I have furthered my love for tinkering and desire to own every line of code I produce. As my experiences and projects show, I will have no trouble fitting in to novel environments and helping my team tackle novel challenges. I am eager to apply strong programming and interpersonal skills to deliver impactful solutions that will benefit the lives of the public.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at my contact details below. I would be happy to discuss how I can contribute at your organization.

Education

Master of Computer Science

Coursework

  • ML and Data Processing Courses: Natural Language Processing, Reinforcement Learning, Machine Learning, Signal Processing
  • Software Engineering Courses: Software Analysis, Security Testing, Embedded Systems, Cloud Computing
  • Theory Courses: Cyber-Physical Systems Safety, Cryptography

Bachelor of Science, Computer Science

Thesis

  • Technical Project: A Data-Driven Recommender for Gamified Classroom Designs
  • Research Project: The Underlying Reason for Mixed Results in Gamification Studies
  • Summary: Educators are exploring gamification as a strategy to motivate and engage students in classrooms and improve their grades. Despite some promising findings, most research studies yield inconclusive results and product vendors propagate misinformation. I construct a data-driven recommender tool that aggregates multiple papers to compensate for the lack of rigorous and empirical experimental design.

Coursework

  • CS Core Courses: Software Engineering, Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Theory of Computation, Discrete Math
  • CS Electives: Web Development, Databases, Cybersecurity, Networks, Programming Languages, Game Design, Python for Scientists and Engineers

Fun Facts

I love listening to Russian/Soviet music (hence my username "SlavSquatSuperstar"). Below are some of my favorite songs: To my best knowledge, I have sung in 27 languages: I can solve a Rubik's cube in just under one minute.
